Experimental Laboratories

Basic researchers at the CSB investigate mechanisms of brain damage, protection, and recovery after stroke in experimental models of stroke to develop new diagnostic and treatment strategies for stroke patients. Clinicians of the CSB, on the other hand, interrogate experimental stroke models to better understand the clinical course and develop novel therapies for their patients. The Experimental Laboratories of the CSB enable this bidirectional translational process by providing personnel and infrastructure for basic stroke research at the highest possible level of expertise and quality. The Experimental Laboratories are the key resource for translational preclinical research at the CSB, and for the liaison of the CSB with research and development (R&D) in the pharmaceutical industry.

Beyond its current role we are aiming at further improving quality of our research through a structured process which may serve as a role model for other academic preclinical research centers even beyond stroke research.
